Three Careerlinx ladies still working at Labora Shoes…

Zodidi Vikwa who grew up in a disadvantaged community was unemployed for a long time. She attended a life skills course through World Changers Academy and was registered onto Careerlinx  database. Careerlinx then connected her to an 8 month shoe manufacturing learnership run by Labora Shoes (African Leather) who manufacture shoes for Mr Price. On completion of the learnership in December 2013, she was given a permanent position as a machine operator, where she still works today. “Getting this job has changed my life as I am able to provide for myself and family and also pay for part time studies, I am grateful to Careerlinx for connecting me to the opportunity” says Zodidi.

Philisiwe Khawula was unemployed for ten years and just sitting at home. She decided to attend a World Changers Academy life skills course held in her community which helped her see life in a different way. She realized that she could not just stay at home and expect her parents and family to take care of her. “I saw that I had to learn to stand on my own” says Philisiwe. She was registered onto Careerlinx database and connected to the learner-ship opportunity at Labora Shoes.

On completion of her learner-ship she was given a permanent position as a machine operator at Labora Shoes where she is still working today. Philisiwe says “Thanks World Changers for helping me see life differently and more positively and thanks Careerlinx for connecting me to a job. I now stand on my own two feet”

ZodidaI’m saving to go further in life….

Sibusisiwe Finiza was unemployed and sitting at home doing nothing, which is very discouraging and leads to hopelessness. She attended a World Changers Academy life skills course and there registered her cv with Careerlinx. Careerlinx connected her to Labora Shoes learner-ship and on completion of it in December 2013, she was given a permanent position as a machinist. “I am now able to provide for my family , putting food on the table and raising my son. I am very grateful for the job but it is not always an easy job. I would like to go further in life so I am saving up to do just that. “says Sibusisiwe.
